If you are searching for JLPT, certainly you are a foreigner who wants to apply for a job in Japan. JLPT stands for  Japanese Language Proficiency Test. It is a test that will check your understanding of the Japanese language. No matter what country you belong to, this test is the same for everyone. It is designed to test your knowledge and understanding of reading, listening, and communication in Japanese language.

Are you ready to know more? Let's find out the worth of JLPT N1 and N2 accreditation in the Recruitment process.

Why JLPT Matters on Your Resume?

Many employers test the language skills of a non-native candidate. They know that this test has its flaws but still it is a reliable filter.

So, if you pass this language test and gain a certificate then it will increase your chance of getting a job. Every candidate who wants to get quick attention from a recruiter should consider getting this accreditation.

It lets you stand out in the crowd. This attention will improve your Japanese CV outlook, so you should think of attempting it.

Five Different Levels of JLPT

Not every candidate is a language proficient, some are quite fluent and others simply understand some basic words. This test has five different levels from N1 to N5.

  1. N5 and N4 are two base levels. If you plan to apply for a job in Japan in Ski Resorts or travel industry, it will work for you.
  2. A N3 level candidate tells a recruiter that he can maintain good conversation in Japanese. Hotel industry accepts candidates with N3 Level. Even many software houses are ready to give you an entry permit with this level of accreditation.
  3. However, if you want to set foot in executive or business level try to clear a Test of N2 level.  You should keep in mind that this level isn't too fluent. If you write this level in your resume, it will inform your employer that you have amazing language abilities. You may not be regarded as fluent but you are good to stay in the corporate workplace.
  4. The top level of the test is N1. If you plan to attempt for this level, you need to have superb academic level knowledge of this language. The test is multiple choice questions and tests your understanding and language skill ability.

Is JLP Accreditation worth it?

Many people think that they need to clear this test to get a work visa. It's not right. This test is not a part of any legal requirement. Besides, it's not a job requirement. In many job posts, companies require it but still you can find job openings without any such requirements.

It will make your Resume look good if you have JLPT N2 Level Accreditation. So, when you want to set foot in the door, you should attempt for this level.

But this accreditation won't hide you. Keep in mind that you still need to prove your language skills during the interview. In a  Japanese workplace, this test will give you an edge as you would have basic understanding and learn more while working there.  It will work as your entry passes there, later you need to improve to grow your career at this workplace.

Tips for Achieving JLPT N2 Accreditation

Reaching JLPT N2 level is not an easy achievement, it will take a lot of time and effort. The reward however is not only a higher fluency in Japanese, but also a more attractive resume when job hunting in Japan. Here are a few tips toward that goal which I personally found useful.

Take online Classes

You can start learning online, try a spaced repetition learning application. It will help you focus only on your language study and ease up the whole learning process.

Make a Routine

You can't learn the Japanese language easily. It will require you to set a routine. It means setting a routine of learning a few words every day. After you make a routine, stick to it. Generally, it takes weeks to get some basic understanding of this language. Don't feel frustrated if you forget anything you learn, it's normal. Keep revising, you can do it.

Attempt Practice Exam

If you want to gain confidence about your language learning, you need to attempt some practice exams. They will help you understand your knowledge gaps and let you practice in a near-real scenario.

Practice your speaking skills

When you clear the screening test of a recruiter, you need to speak Japanese as well during Interview. So, it's vital to focus on the speaking section. No test will help you get a job unless you practice communication in this language.
